Wardrobe: Julia Clancey
British designer Julia Clancey creates original, red-carpet designs that combine elegance, glamour and fun. Julia started out as a stylist to the stars dressing rock n’ roll clients such as Catatonia in the mid 90’s onwards. During this period she also worked as a fashion editor and editor for publications ‘Cream’ and ‘Large’ . With a flair for customising and developing her own elaborate designs she eventually decided to strike out on her own. Her big break came when one director, assuming she was a dress designer, asked her to produce outfits for a multimillion pound international advertising campaign.
Julia debuted at London Fashion Week in 2004 and later at LA fashion week back in March 2008 with an A/W collection sponsored by IMG and Smashbox, Andre Leon Tally from US Vogue sat backstage and profiled her in his column. Since then Julia has developed a desirable, luxury high-end fashion label.Collections are reminiscent of glamour past and present using the most delicate silks and chiffons. Signature pieces include intricate hand beaded chic cocktail dresses and elegant show stopping gowns. Julia Clancey accessories are both exquisite and decadent. Unusual body drapes are adorned with Swarovski crystals alongside dramatic eye masks, delicately encrusted belts
and vintage inspired hand drapes.
In 2010 Julia launched her ‘Little Miss Clancey’ line , a more affordable younger cutting edge line inspired by her work as a stylist within the music industry. It also saw the launch of her private showroom in West Hollywood catering to her loyal following of private clients.
In late 2010 Julia was approached to do the costume design for ‘Two Jacks’ directed by Bernard Rose and produced by Julia Verdin. An impressive cast of Sienna Miller , Danny Huston, Jack Huston, Jacqueline Bisset , Billy Zane, Izabella Miko, LydiaHearst made Julia realize that this was where the true heart of her passion lies and is currently working on another feature filming in the fall.
Julia’s feminine whimsical designs are worn by a dazzling array of celebrity clients on a waiting list for prestigious red-carpet events. These include; Megan Fox, Mischa Barton, Dita Von Teese, Estelle , Leann Rimes , Faith Hill , Tori Amos , Dani Minogue , Girls Aloud , Heidi Klum, Paris Hilton , Keira Knightly , Lindsay Lohan , Tori Amos, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Denise Van Outen. Julia’s work has appeared in UK Vogue , American Vogue, Italian Vogue , Russian Vogue, Elle , Harpers and Queen , Wallpaper ,I.D. The Times , Tatler , Marie Claire , Instyle , Surface and numerous others.

Julia Clancey is an incredibly talented designer.
